A step-by-step guide to planning a self-care session. Yesterday was a difficult day. I hadn’t taken my skin care since day three, exercised for the first time in a month, hadn’t slept, and had nine hours of work. Safe to say, I needed some TLC. Usually I get pampered in my daily skin care routine, but yesterday wasn’t a good day. So I decided to add some oomph to my skin care routine (it was a personal care routine at the time) and let me tell you, I didn’t sleep so well. since weeks ! Now I’m here giving you the highlights from my night of self-care and how you can get the same pampered treatment in your own home.
A step-by-step guide to planning an indulgent self-care session
Make it your “time”
Yes, hiding the sheets is therapeutic, and lying down with hydrated skin is nice. But is it so? We all have days when we need something more. Here are a few more things from my self-care book.
Phase I: Music
If you are a teenager, you are probably wondering “who does something even without music”? A professional who works without the time or energy to create a playlist – this is who. But if you’re in the latter group, don’t worry, POPxo already has a mood-enhancing makeup playlist for you, which you can double as a skincare playlist. It won’t bother us.
Before you start with skin care, play your favorite music in the background that will help you forget about the hassle of the day. You are now ready to begin.
Phase II: Environment
Ambience – read in dramatic effect.
Your mood is obviously influenced by your surroundings. Our second step therefore includes small things to improve it. Light a few of your favorite candles, some at your skin care station and others in your bedroom. Now that your surroundings remind you of Hawaiian mimosas (my favorite scent), you are even more relaxed in this grooming routine. To the next step.
Phase III: double cleaning
First of all, take off your makeup and don’t leave it on. Double cleansing is your best friend if you have waterproof makeup. Gently remove makeup and tone your skin with a toner of your choice.
Step IV: Prepare your bathroom / shower
Bathroom: Drop in a bath bomb or bath salts or make a nice hot bubble bath to suit your mood Relax in your tub with a cloth mask (must-have entry). Can you read a book if you’re one of those Pinterest girls? But if you’re in the mood for some wine, definitely call yours. It might be too relaxing for your senses, but don’t fall asleep!
Shower: If you’re not a fan of bathrooms, try this one. Set the shower temperature to whatever feels most comfortable (mine is hot) and exfoliate your body. You can also sneak in body care, no rules here. You can use an exfoliating body gel or cream or a dry brush.
Step V: Prepare your skin
When you get out of the shower / bath, it’s time for skin care. But first, get ready. Prepare the skin before skin care? Yes girls, we are deep inside. For this step, spray your face with a facial sprayer. This process helps the pores on your skin to open and can help your skincare to penetrate better.
Phase VI: a massage of gratitude
After steaming, take out your face massagers tonight. Remember that electric facial massager that’s always in the box? Use this! If you took a shower and are using this sheet mask now, gently roll your jade sculptor or facial massager over the mask to soak up all the goodness of the serum. My favorite tip for using leftover neck serum.
