One of the most irritating and distressing things for the skin is a breakout. Not only it looks horrible on the skin, but it also ends up leaving dark, pigmented scars on the skin. Scars often form when tissues under the skin are damaged by a fracture. Most of the time, too little collagen (which helps the skin heal) is produced and leaves a scar.
The good news is that scars don’t have to be permanent. There are five natural remedies that reduce their appearance over time with constant use.
1. Cactus
A common home remedy and a natural ingredient used in many skincare products, this helps in the healing process of scars. Applying aloe vera gel to the affected areas not only helps reduce inflammation but also reduces the appearance of scar tissue.
2. Honey
Like aloe vera, honey is also known for its healing properties. It is known to calm burns and wounds thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties. Consistent application of honey to scars can help to reduce their appearance and even heal them completely over time.
3. Black Seed Oil
Obtained from a medicinal plant, this oil has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that not only prevent acne but also heal it. According to some studies, it also speeds up the skin’s healing process, with constant application and at the same time removes pigmentation from the skin.
4. Rosehip Seed Oil
Rosehip seed oil, which is largely marketed as an anti-aging solution, is widely available and safe to apply directly to the skin. One study also indicated that it can be used to treat scars. Although the study was specific to surgical scars, the oil may be just as helpful in reducing acne scars. Researchers have found that applying it twice a day reduces the appearance of scars and discoloration.
5. Lemon Juice
There is no meaningful research to show that lemon juice is effective in removing acne scars. However, anecdotal evidence is abundant. Many say they have had great success applying lemon juice to acne scars. Proponents say it helps reduce skin discoloration and evens out the complexion. Because lemon juice is very acidic, apply a few drops directly to scars.
