The skin is the bigger organ of the body. It contains millions of pores, even if most of them are invisible to the human eye. All of these pores are open, letting the skin to “breathe”. Each follicle contains one hair follicle. Each pore also contains sebaceous (sebaceous) glands that produce an oil called sebum.
Enlarged pores are a very common skin problem. It also attracts other skin problems, such as acne and blackheads, more than people with oily skin.
Oil glands are found abundantly in the pores of the face, back, chest, and groin. Hormones play a role in stimulating these glands to produce large amounts of sebum. That is the reason why pores specifically those on the nose, forehead, and cheeks, may appear larger than in other areas of the body.
