1. What are flax seeds?

Flax seeds come from linseed or linseed plants. It is considered that one of the most powerful plant foods in the world. It’s packed with fiber and omega-3 fatty acids and is a valuable source of vitamins and minerals that have many benefits, such as treating heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. In fact, in the 8th century, King Charlemagne enacted laws to make the consumption of flaxseed mandatory due to its many health benefits. Hence they received the name Linum usitatissimum, which means “the most useful”.

Aside from its amazing health benefits, flax seeds are also known as the holy grail of happy, healthy hair.

  • Flax seeds contain omega-3 fatty acids, which provide vital proteins and nutrients to hair follicles, promote blood circulation to the scalp, and prevent hair follicle inflammation that leads to hair loss.

3. How to use flax seeds for your hair


1. DIY: linseed jelly

Ingredients

1/4 cup of flax seeds, 2.5 cups of water, aloe vera, measuring cup, wooden spoon, glass, bowl, filter socks, and jar.

Method-

  • Add flax seeds to the water.
  • Boil this water for 10 minutes and keep stirring so that the flax seeds don’t stick to the bottom of the pot.
  • Turn off the stove when you get a gel-like texture, not too thick but not too thin.
  • Let the gel cool for about an hour while it thickens.
  • Place the sock in a glass measuring cup, then pour the gel into it.
  • Now, squeeze the gel from the sock into the measuring cup to strain it.
  • Add aloe vera gel to flaxseed gel for best results.
  • Pour the gel into a storage jar and keep it in the refrigerator.
  • Finally, you can apply linseed gel to your hair for at least two hours. Apply this gel at least once a week for shiny, frizz-free hair.

Pro Tip: When applying the gel, wear a shower cap to retain moisture for best results.

4. Homemade Banana Flaxseed Hair Mask

Ingredients

2 tablespoons flaxseed, 1 banana, 1 tablespoon honey, 1 tablespoon olive/almond / lavender oil

method-

  • Grind the flax seeds into a fine powder
  • Add chopped banana slices and flax seeds.
  • Add honey and any oil of your choice to the flaxseed and banana mixture, mix well, and your mask is ready!
  • Divide your hair into different sections and apply the mask to your scalp and the rest of your hair.
  • Leave the hair mask on for at least two hours, then wash it off with warm water. Use this hair mask at least once a week for luscious, hydrated hair.

Pro Tip: While applying the mask, make sure to cover the entire length and ends of the hair for a good result.

5. Flaxseeds hair oil

  • Buy high-quality linseed oil from the market.
  • Take about two tablespoons of flaxseed oil in your hands and gently massage your scalp.
  • Divide your hair into smaller parts, cut all but one section, and coat this entire section with the oil.
  • Repeat this process until all threads are well lubricated. This process will ensure that your hair gets the unique benefit of flaxseed oil.
  • After greasing your hair, dip a towel in hot water, roll it up to make sure it’s damp and not wet, and wrap it around your head.
  • After 30 minutes, remove the towel and comb your hair with a wide-tooth comb to get rid of knots.
  • Finally, wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner.
  • Repeat this process at least once or twice a week and you will notice a drastic transformation in your hair. After four to five weeks of regular use, your hair will appear thicker and smoother than before.

Pro Tip: Wash your hair with warm water instead of hot water to avoid dizziness and for better results.

6. Hair mask based on honey, milk, and flax powder

In a tablespoon of ground flaxseed powder, add half a tablespoon of honey along with two tablespoons of yogurt. Apply this mixture to your hair. Wash it off after 30 minutes with shampoo and conditioner and repeat the process once a week.

7. Hair mask with olive oil, lemon juice, and flaxseed powder

Add two tablespoons of olive oil and half a teaspoon of lemon juice to one tablespoon of flaxseed powder and apply it to the length and width of your hair. Wash it off after 30 minutes.

Pro Tip: Lemon juice dries up, so use it in a moisturizing oil like olive oil.
