Do you have relatively small eyes? You may have narrowed or cute eyes, and eye makeup is often a sore spot in your beauty regimen. Since this sounds complicated, there are some tips and tricks you can use to solve this problem. We totally understand how frustrating it can be to find an eye makeup style that is truly visible to your little eyes, so these tips can help you expand your options.
Open Eyes
When applying eye makeup, be sure to keep your eyes open for what it will look like. With small eyes, the eyelid area is smaller and is often covered by the crease. Keeping your eyes open will show you what the eyeshadow looks like and even how thin or thick the eyeliner is for the effect you are trying to achieve.
MonoChrome
Since you are working with fewer eyelid areas, using one color will work better than using multiple colors from different colour combinations to shading the eyelid. You can choose a dark colour and create a gradient effect by using lighter and darker shades of the same colour.
Cut above the Crease
You may be familiar with the direction of the cut fold. Some of you may have already tried it and found that it doesn’t work for your eye shape. Even trends like floating eyeliner, where you need to apply eyeliner to the crease, don’t work well for small eyes because the makeup is covered in skin folds. If you want to rock this look, do your eye makeup with your eyes open. Draw the lineup and along your crease (rather than directly) when your eye is open and you will see how it works like a dream.
Smoke Show
Smoky eye makeup is a great option for small eyes because it makes your eyes appear larger. Simply apply dark brown eyeliner to the upper and lower lash lines and smooth them with an angled brush. Your lashes will appear thicker and your eyes will appear fuller and wider. Add some highlighter to the inner corners for a light glow.
Reverse Shadow
Go against the traditional colors and use the bold colors that you would have used on your lids, on the lower lash line. Some smaller eye shapes tend to have more room on the lower lash lines and this will use that space wisely. Don’t forget to use eyeliner or kohl on your waterline or the eye makeup colors will not have a good effect and will make you look pale.
Lash Game
Wear a volume-boosting mascara and stay away from false eyelashes. Try individual pieces instead of full lashes, unless it is absolutely necessary to use fakes. Fakes tend to look heavier on small eyes and will cover up eye makeup.
