Many women find back pain as an unavoidable part of pregnancy and don’t seek help from a doctor in health care. Sometimes though, during pregnancy, you can prevent or relieve back pain. Consider the following ways of getting rid of pregnancy backaches:
Physical activity and Exercises:-
Routine physical activity and exercises make muscles and ligaments strong on the back.
Before and early exercise during pregnancy will improve abdominal, back, and pelvic muscles, improving flexibility and allowing increased capacity to bear weight.
Low-intensity exercise, once it develops can also alleviate the pain. Pelvic tilts are particularly effective in alleviating lumbar pain. Knee pull, straight leg raise, curl, straight lateral leg raise and Kegel exercises help to relieve low back pain in pregnant women
Bad posture will place pressure on the spine, so proper posture is a must when it comes to working, sitting, or sleeping.
Having a pillow between your knees and under your abdomen can take the stress off your back
Footwear:-Wear low-heeled-not flat-shoes with strong supporting arches.
Avoid bending forward:-
Bend your elbows, and keep your back straight as you lift or pick up something from the floor.
Heat and cold:-
Applying hot and cold packs to the back will help lower the discomfort. Begin by putting cold compresses on the painful region, as required, for up to 20 minutes. Use heat over the painful area after two or three days, with a heating pad or hot water bottle. During pregnancy be careful not to apply heat to your abdomen.
If symptoms are severe and are persistent or prolonged, see the doctor right away.
You should see the doctor and seek immediate medical care if back pain is accompanied by any of the following.
Numbness or weakness:-
Severe pain, numbness, or weakness in the legs can be a sign of the nerves being pressured. This usually happens with a prolapse or a disk bulge. The pain is usually felt under the knee and in the feet and toes, along with a sensation of tingling, numbness, or weakness. If you feel weakness in one or both legs, or loss of sensation in your legs, groin, bladder or anus, visit your doctor immediately.
Fever and dull ache:-
A fever followed by a dull ache around your lower back or along the sides of your back can be a sign of an infection with the kidney or bladder. This would need prompt diagnosis and antibiotic care. When you experience back pain followed by painful urination, blood in the urine, chills or fever, see your doctor immediately
Severe back pain may in rare cases be related to issues such as pregnancy-associated osteoporosis, vertebral osteoarthritis, or septic arthritis. Rhythmic pain can be a sign of premature labor.So if you have any of these problems, it ‘s important to have your doctor check it.
